Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.F.A., or equivalent terminal degree in relevant discipline(s) (completed by August 1, 2018); M.A. may be considered with significant professional experience (minimum of 10 years) and scholarly potential. Candidates will have a strong potential for scholarly and /or creative work with demonstrated ability to teach some or all of the following: TV Sports Production & Reporting, TV News Production & Reporting, Multi-Platform Sports & News Production, Broadcast Sports, and News Writing courses across a variety of media and venues. Preferred candidates should possess strong technical and conceptual skills as well as experience teaching, or mentoring minorities, or other underrepresented groups.

Candidates must have an active record of creative activity or scholarship related to their specialty area, and teaching, research, and creative work complement departmental offerings and strengths. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they have or will incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in their courses and/or scholarship/creative works.

Responsibilities

The position requires graduate and/or undergraduate teaching in Sports and News Production, mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing program of creative work or scholarship in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments. Development of new courses is highly encouraged, and the candidate will work with colleagues to develop a strategy that keeps the program at the forefront of innovation.
